Peripherals lists connected accessories that report a battery, from Apple keyboards, mice and trackpads to many third-party ones.

Keyboards, mice and trackpads show up on their own. Headphones such as AirPods, and some other devices, only report their level over Bluetooth: click Allow… at the bottom of Peripherals and macOS asks for Bluetooth permission once. Turn Off in the same place stops it.
